Biography

Ben Sebald grew up in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia as a Missionary Kid. Inside a soviet concrete apartment he became drawn in Howard Shore's work in "The Lord of The Rings" and John William's otherworldly movements in "Star Wars". These scores kicked off a lifelong study of music starting on guitar and slowly adding more scope over many years. To fill in gaps of understand Ben studied Music Technology at Rochester Technical and Community College and received a degree in Composition for Film, Television, and Games from Berklee College of Music.

Composing original music for projects in many genres, styles, and moods, while recording with talented musicians in his studio adds life to his music. Though that process may require detailed work in sheet music and extra time spent recording, mixing, and mastering, it is well worth the depth brought to the final product. Ben has also arranged the music of others to fit specific project needs adding to previous arrangements as requested to bring new feel, colors, and scope to the music.

Taking an impressionistic view of music allows Ben to focus on an external subject. This perspective really encourages collaboration, discussion, and leads to a great interest in understand a creator's artistic vision. He considers it a privilege to work on someone else's creation and loves being inspired by visuals and stories.​​
